Our Client is currently searching for a Director Quality and Nursing Practice that will report to the Assistant Vice President, Quality, Safety and Education this position collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership to provide programs designed to improve clinical quality and patient safety. Plans, organizes, coordinates and evaluates departmental efforts to achieve clinical improvement through the identification and promotion of best practices that ensure clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
COMMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
1. Responsible for creating and supporting patient first culture that fosters a high level of patient satisfaction as demonstrated by outcomes data.*
2. Creates a professional atmosphere and an environment of coaching and development that supports shared governance/shared decision making and a high level of employee satisfaction as evidenced by outcomes data.*
3. Collaborates with physicians and staff to champion patient care and quality services.
4. Collaborates with university affiliates to promote nursing and patient care services at the hospital as a model for patient care, education and research.
Other duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Establishing and allocating staff resources in accordance with regulatory guidelines utilizing patient acuity and budgetary indicators as primary benchmarks.
2. Understand, articulate and ensure compliance with the State Nursing Practice Act, regulatory agency standards and policies of the organization.
3. Responsible for strategic planning, marketing and execution of divisional activities. Participates in the overall strategic planning, and implementations of hospital goals, objectives and mission.

Requirements:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing is required. Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or directly related discipline is preferred.

Knowledge of nursing practice & implementation of evidence base nursing practice.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Approximately five plus years of progressively more responsible administrative and/or clinical management experience in process improvement or related activities, preferable in an academic medical center or tertiary care center. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in performance improvement and patient safety is required. Must have demonstrated success in design and application of quality management activities, working with clinical data systems, and a record of effective team oriented working relationships with medical and other health professionals. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

ON-THE-JOB EXPERIENCE: Approximately one to two years to gain familiarity with the Hospital environment, department routines and procedures, and the full range of job duties.
