The Clinical Nurse Specialist performs an advance practice role in the delivery of nursing care of high value to meet the needs of patients to maintain health and recover from illness. The Clinical Nurse Specialist functions autonomously and in collaboration with the healthcare team in advanced clinical practice, education, consultation, research and leadership roles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Sets priorities and makes decisions of a complex nature. Interfaces directly with physicians, patients, and family members, as well as other health team members throughout the Medical Center. Maintains confidentiality of patient's medical record. Regular and predictable attendance is required. May be required to care for patients of all ages throughout the lifespan.
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of "Patient First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
Recognizes that variables such as age, race, nationality, culture, disease-causing vulnerabilities, socio-economic factors affect the patient populations under their care. Uses interventions appropriate to these factors (e.g., Interpreter, dietary preferences, social service consult, etc.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Master's Degree in appropriate clinical nursing specialty. A minimum of 5 years of direct patient care in Neurology
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required: Licensee to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Approval from Texas Board of Nursing to practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Salary to ~$73k DOE |
