The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for ensuring that safe, effective, efficient, compassionate, and satisfying nursing and other patient services are delivered to the patients of the hospital as a member of our executive team.
The Chief Nursing Officer provides guidance and leadership in the development and implementation of patient care and establishes the standards for patient care, nursing practice and nursing performance.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide comprehensive oversight to the patient care and clinical services of the hospital. Participates in the strategic and long-range planning of the hospital. Directs the development of goals and objectives for the patient care and clinical services that are in keeping with the hospital's Strategic Plan. Defines standards of care for nursing and patient care services which promote and facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and coordination of care, meet regulatory, legal standards, and integrate evidence based practice.
Provides direction in development of planned, systematic processes for monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality and appropriateness of nursing and patient care services.
Provides direction in establishing the resource allocation priorities for the provision of nursing and patient care services, including the appropriate number and qualifications of staff members to provide care for patients.
Ensures compliance, utilization and understanding of management information systems as essential to the provision of quality care, management decision-making and performance improvement. Serves as a change agent, assisting staff to assimilate change in processes and practices.
Maintains and promotes a personal, professional philosophy of community involvement by participating in professional and community activities.
Provides opportunities for consumer input into health care decision making and policy development.
Demonstrates initiative in professional development. Fosters an environment of professionalism, collegiality and collaboration, and ethical practice.
