The Assistant Nurse Manager role:
Supports the Clinical Nurse Manager in the responsibilities for the daily operational needs of the assigned area and participates in the management of staff and material resources, as well as program planning and evaluation. The Assistant Manager also provides input and participates in the development and management of the budget. Other aspects of this role include providing supervision of employees, participating in hiring, assigning work, coaching, training, staff in-services, evaluating performance and completing simple disciplinary actions. The person in this role is expected to actively work to ensure optimal delivery of care as well as performance improvement initiatives either through direct involvement and membership or by occasionally leading PI team efforts. We are looking for an individual who is able to actively collaborate with peers, subordinates and supervisors in constructive problem solving as well as to facilitate frequent team building interactions with staff.

Minimum Education:
Bachelors degree in Nursing.
Minimum Experience:
3- 5 years experience in as an RN, preferably in a leadership role. Previous experience as a supervisor/charge nurse is acceptable. Must have previous experience in an oncology setting and be well versed with procedures, clinically up to date.
Required Certifications/Licensure:
Current California RN license, American Heart Association BLS certification.
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferred.
We WILL consider candidates without a California license. CA is a walk through state and many times candidates can go to the BRN in Sacramento and receive a temp license the same day.

Assistant Nurse Manager Shift Clarification:
This role is intended to be a management presence when the Unit Manager is generally not there: ie, nights. There are times when this role will require an evening or a day shift in order to update staff who work on varied shifts.
Candidate must be willing to work rotating/flexible 12 hour shifts, 36-40 hours per week. Exact hours will be dependent upon staff and manager needs. could be 7p-7a, 3p-3a, someday shifts are possible, some weekends as needed. Must be a motivated, self starter, willing to go the extra mile, works as a change-agent. Excellent communication and teaching skills. Ideal candidate is someone who is looking for a home to grow and learn. Should be active in the ONS community and chemo certified.
