| ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES |
|

|
To administer, analyze and appraise the care given to patients within the Emergency Department. To advise hospital management regarding the status of patient care, budgetary projections, quality improvement processes and human resource application in these areas. To anticipate and estimate future needs of the Emergency Department to improve quality of patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Formulates sound fiscal operations including the timely and accurate compilation, analysis, development and publication of an annual budget and the monitoring of implementation.
2. Administer analyze and appraise Quality Improvement and facilitate interdepartmental Performance Improvement
process throughout the Medical Center.
3. Control and monitor Department Director processes related to Human Resources; inclusive of position control, job descriptions, professional practice, staff training and education especially related to patient safety, recruitment and retention and performance evaluations within ED.
4. Direct and approve the practice of professional nursing and support positions within the ED to maintain quality patient care through implementation and evaluation of clinical practice standards.
5. Develop, interpret, inspect and review policies and procedures within the Nursing Division, Administrative Division and Unit Specific areas.
6. Responsible for the implementation of leapfrog, core measures and other quality initiatives related to patient care and safe practice.
7. Responsible for ED dashboard
8. Cooperates with the Medical Staff and other hospital personnel to ensure that high quality services are being rendered to patients within areas of responsibility.
9. Develops and motivates Department Directors and other key personnel to optimize their talents and meet the
overall needs and goals of the organization.
10. Supervise and evaluate employees within Nursing Administration, inclusive of Nursing Supervisors.
11. Collaborates, develops and participates in marketing of Nursing Services, including educational program development, external advertising and working in alliance with local and regional programs.
12. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of goals established for the organization and the Nursing Division.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Skills/Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent required.
PREFERRED
Masters in related field preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
Management RN experience required in a clinical setting. 3-5 years experience preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Knowledge of body substance isolation.
Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patients, families, internal and external partners, managerial and employee needs.
Ability to work long hours and irregular hours with many interruptions.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
